Louie Simpson was born in 1973 and raised between London and Ibiza. He studied at Chelsea Fine Art School and later became heavily involved in the “free party” movement in London, pulling many influences from the rave culture. He was later arrested for drugs and received an 11 year sentence in Barcelona’s notorious, “La Modelo” prison.
Whilst incarcerated he was able to use his time creatively and had 2 exhibitions (of which he obviously did not attend). Louie dealt with addiction issues and after finally getting clean in 2015, his work is a reflection of the struggles he faced. Often using bright colours, Louie’s art reflects his “darker experiences”.
